Taste Norfolk’s Bounty festival night – Tuesday .Held in the old convict jail compound in the World Heritage area of Kingston, you will have a bountiful ‘Taste’ sensation from the many amazing food stalls offering mouth watering creations. There will be market and craft stalls, live entertainment, bar service all under festival lighting and a magical night sky. This is street food, island style. (Your VIP bag will include vouchers to use at any stall) Details to be confirmed.
Thanksgiving Day lunch – Wednesday 27 November 2019.
Thanksgiving Day is a celebrated tradition passed down from our Pitcairn and Whaler ancestors. Norfolk is one of the few places outside of the U.S.A who still celebrate this day. After the moving Thanksgiving services at local churches, guests will join a local family at their home to enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch of local traditional dishes and sweet island desserts. Experience 1. Slick and Sons Sausage making.
Guided by some of the island’s most experienced butchers we will take you through the sausage making process from start-to-finish. It will include tasting the end product. Gourmet flavours include Colleen McCullough’s ‘better than Harrods’ pork sausage.
Experience 2. Culinary Journey.
A colourful Polynesian experience where you will enjoy Tahitian food cooked in the authentic and traditional underground oven “Ahima a”. The opening of the underground oven and traditional feast represents the food journey of our history from Tahiti to Pitcairn to Norfolk Island using local fresh produce and Island fish and meats.
Experience 3. Blue Kingfisher.
Direct descendants of Fletcher Christian share their ways of living off the land and waters showcasing the benefits of seasonal produce and fresh fish! Professional local fisherman will demonstrate how to handle the beauties from the surrounding oceans followed by cooking demonstrations and tasting plates accompanied with fresh produce.
Experience 4. The Forager Sourdough workshop.
Join in the Forager workshop to learn the process of making naturally fermented sourdough. A very hands-on experience ending with a light lunch and your own loaf of freshly baked wood-fired sourdough to take with you.
Experience 5. The Barn.
A walk-about tour around the market and kitchen gardens of “Barnaby Produce” and “The Barn” where you will meet two generations of one local family. This is followed by a combination of hands-on and demonstration cooking using seasonal produce gathered along the way. The focus will be on traditional island dishes using fresh picked produce. A relaxing tasting follows overlooking the gardens of The Barn.
Experience 6. Death by Chocolate.
Join Deb and the team at Seriously Chocolate and learn how to make simple but stunning desserts and after dinner treats using chocolate of course! Fun, very much hands on and loaded with calories (only the good ones) you will leave a little bit wiser in how to create these treats at home.
Experience 7. Ladies who Lunch.
Bring the girls together for a gourmet picnic experience set amongst beautiful Norfolk scenery. Settle in for the afternoon
and graze your way through a colourful selection of scrumptious seasonal food with complimentary Rosé and bubbles.
